PT Bank SBI Indonesia was initially established as a Pasar Bank in the year 1970 and was known as Bank Pasar Gunung Tampomas Jaya. In 1986, Bank Pasar Gunung Tampomas Jaya was taken over by M/s. Ravindo Jaya Group and Mr. Ishwar T Daryanani. The Pasar Bank was converted into General Bank or Commercial Bank in the year 1990 and the name was changed to PT Bank Indomonex.
On 14.12.2006, State Bank of India acquired 76 % shares in the bank and took over the management control in June 2007. On May 2009, the Name of the Bank has been changed to Bank SBI Indonesia and the status of the Bank has been changed to “Bank DEVISA” in June 2009. The present shareholding of the bank is as under.

The Bank has 14 offices spread over four major cities of Indonesia comprising eight offices in Jakarta, three offices in Surabaya and one in Bandung and two in Medan. We have also opened a Cash Point in Indian Embassy. The Kantor Pusat Non-Operational has been shifted to Graha Mandiri Building along with the Kantor Pusat Operational in Jan 2009. The other offices in Jakarta are at Pasar Baru, Mangga Dua, Sunter and Tanah Abang , the three offices at Surabaya are at Rajawali, Nginden and Jalan HR. Mohamed and the two offices in Bandung is at Jl.Abdul Revai and Jl. Buah Batu. Medan is at JL. Adam Malik
